About us

YP Köln Birliği is an independent association working for the active and equal participation of people living in Cologne in democratic life.

Our purpose (statute § 2)

Our association is committed to the principles of democracy, social democracy, social justice, human rights, the rule of law, equality, freedom, peace and pluralism. We work to make these principles part of everyday life in Cologne.

  • Participation

    We promote the social and political participation of people living in Cologne, especially migrants from Turkey.

  • Civic education

    We organise information evenings, seminars and talks on democracy, fundamental rights and local politics.

  • Equal participation

    We specifically promote the equal participation of women, young people and people with disabilities.

  • Against discrimination

    We oppose racism, discrimination, right-wing extremism and hate speech by democratic and peaceful means.

  • Cooperation

    We work together with social democratic organisations, trade unions and civil society.

  • Dialogue and the future

    We support intercultural dialogue, environmental protection, sustainability and European integration.

YP Köln Birliği is an independent association under German law (eingetragener Verein in Gründung, i.e. in the process of registration). It is not a political party within the meaning of the German Political Parties Act (Parteiengesetz) and is committed to the Basic Law (Grundgesetz) of the Federal Republic of Germany and its free democratic basic order.
